MY 2K SAFE RIDERS provides safe passage for the children from the bus stop to their homes. The MY 2K SAFE RIDERS are currently servicing the neighborhoods of Calvert Square and Young Terrace apartments (Saint Paul's Area). This program is designed to safely navigate through crime invested and gang-ridden environments. We aim to provide stability and reassurance in the neighborhoods in which we were raised. The service provides peace of mind for the Children and Adults that reside in this area.
Feeling safe and valued is vital to a child's development. Learning suffers when students fear for their safety. Statistics show that every 40 seconds in the United States, a child becomes missing or abducted. More than 44,000 people died due to gun violence overall in 2022. The importance of making sure our kids make it home safely is more important now than it ever was. Some of the volunteers who assist the MY 2K SAFE RIDERS program are reformed citizens who are familiar with the neighborhoods and crimes being committed. This gives them the ability to navigate through the same neighborhood they were raised in with ease and efficiency. This program allows us to protect our kids and families as well as provide reformation, giving these volunteers freedom and power to overcome their mistakes.
The intended outcome of the MY 2K SAFE RIDER PROGRAM is to ensure that the children from the Calvert Square and Young Terrace apartment complex (Saint Paul's Area) make it home safe every day! A well-trained volunteer will escort them. Somebody that is compassionate and dedicated to the well-being of every child that needs safe passage from the bus to the door of their home. We plan to provide this service in the morning and afternoons.
